We collect information about you in three ways:

  3. From other organisations and people

The information we collect includes:

  • Contact details, for example, name, address, email and telephone numbers
  • Professional details such as job titles, work history, experience and qualifications
  • Identification, such as passport, visa and immigration status, driving licence, date and place of birth
  • Financial details, for example, account numbers, billing information
  • Details of your visits to our website including IP address, web browser type
  • Information you provide to use, for example, by filling out forms or surveys, using our live chat service or contacting us by email, telephone or post.

How we keep your information safe

 
As a law firm we take your security and privacy very seriously. We provide training in data protection and confidentiality to all of our staff who handle personal information.  We treat it as a disciplinary matter if they misuse or don’t look after your personal information properly.

We adopt appropriate and proportionate industry standard data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

Where we use other organisations to help provide our services, we will always ensure that, as a minimum, the security policies and confidentiality arrangements meet the same requirements we ourselves impose and expect.  These standards are enforced by legally binding contracts.

We consider and address the privacy risks first whenever we are planning to use or hold personal information in new ways, such as when introducing new systems.

We only keep your information for as long as necessary such as where we have a legal duty to keep it.  Our retention policy is guided by the criteria set out by the Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority

You have the right to:

  • Be told how we use your personal information
  • Right to change or withdraw your consent: Where you have given us consent to make use of your personal data for any of the purposes outlined in this policy, you may withdraw that consent by contacting us using the details at the top of this policy. If you wish to change your contact preferences or no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes,
  • Right to rectification: You may ask us to update out of date or inaccurate information we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure: In certain circumstances you may ask us to erase your Personal Data. If you would like us to erase the personal data we hold about you, please get in touch, letting us know why you would like us to do so.
  • Right to data portability: In certain circumstances you may ask us to provide you with the personal data that we hold about you in a structured, commonly used, machine readable form, or ask for us to send such personal data to another data controller.
  • Right to object: In certain circumstances you may object to our processing of your personal data.
  • Right to restrict processing: You can ask us to restrict the processing of personal data we hold about you in certain circumstances.
